After a Long Break

Writer: Anagha AnilAnagha Anil

It has been so long since I last wrote here. My semester exams had started, and I took a break from posting. As it was our first exam in this program and college, it added a sense of uncertainty to the usual nervousness. But I was prepared for it as my UG experience had taught me not to take the results of the first exams to heart. It only gives us an idea of what to expect and how to prepare for consecutive exams.

In those busy and stressful days, what inspired me was the thought of going back home for the semester break. I've never wanted to go home so badly as then.

During exam week, you find everything other than the syllabus interesting. You can think of a hundred ways to make your day productive and enjoyable. You find beauty and peace in everyday things - the sunrise, making coffee, staring out the window. Even a ceiling fan can keep you engaged!

It makes you wonder how you could have ever felt bored when there is so much to see, do and enjoy. There is enough time in a day to be both productive and to relax, but you don't realise this as you slouch off scrolling through instagram reels. So, I decided to make a list of all the things I would do once I'm home for the break. I would eat well, get sufficient sleep, and spend quality time with my family instead of holing up in my room watching animes and reading all the time. I also had plans of buying some of the books prescribed for us in the next semester and reading them early. Blogging was also part of my agenda.

When planning makes you feel in control of everything, life reminds you of who the boss is. A few days after I came home, I was down with fever. Guess who decided to make an appearance? Dengue. But thankfully, I got to finish most of the things I wanted to do. But I had to cancel out on visiting my father's native place, shopping and even blogging.

Throughout my recovery, I was called Dengue by everyone at home as well as those in my PG, which I came to know later. They were like,

" Is dengue sleeping?"

" Dengue, did you take your medicine?"

" Has dengue returned?"

etc etc

Thus,I had to extend my break and I came to college 10 days after the semester began. After a week of catching up on lessons and writing notes, I'm back to posting.
