Birth of a Book: Author Interview Series II

Q) What inspired you to write this book? Was it a person, an idea, or a specific moment in your life, or a little bit of everything?

A: The main thing was my professor, Rufus sir, because I didn’t really write the book to write a book. It was just, like, poems which I wrote when I was in school, when I was really sad about something or really happy about something. So when Sir encouraged us so much in class, it made me think, "okay, maybe I can compile it into a book". So the first one is like experiences and the second is Rufus sir.

Q) So what are the challenges you faced in the making of the book?

A: The challenge is that this is kind of fragmented. It was written over three years. So, sometimes I wrote it in notebooks and sometimes I wrote them on my phone and laptop, and I didn’t even know which app it was on, Notes app or WhatsApp message. So I had to sit and collect them all, and I had a specific theme, so I had to make sure that everything that I collected went along with the theme. And what I should leave out and what I should include and the publishing process was also very new to me, like how do you do this, and how do I get money from it and how does it go to the website. So I had to learn all of that, and that was the main challenge.

Q) Do you have plans to write any new books in the future?

A: I will definitely write a new book because this one, as I told you, I never wrote it to write a book. It’s my life experiences that I wrote as poetry. I do want to write a prose piece, a fictional story, or something. I have an idea, so let’s see how it goes.

Q) What inspired you to write this book? Was it a person, an idea, or a specific moment in your life or a little bit of everything?

A: The life experiences, passion towards writing, and the belief that written words consist not only of the truth or facts, but also of something beyond palpable. So, that was one reason why I started writing. It’s just spreading emotions through words.

Q) So what are the challenges you faced in the making of the book?

A: The challenges I faced can be divided into three. First one, the target audience; how positively I can influence the audience in a different way, and how relatable I am in connecting with the audience. The second one would be choosing the appropriate E-commerce or press that you want to choose for publishing. It takes up a lot of time, consumes a lot of time. Followed by that, it will be the feedback we receive from the readers and how we take their feedback, and how we work on it, and further proceed with the further works.

Q) Do you have plans to write any new books in the future?

A: Yes, I am planning to write a short story. I am working on that, and probably down the lane I’ll be publishing it. I think the first one was very basic, and I think I learned a lot from it, and I’ll be looking up for the betterment in the next upcoming work.
