No matter how much you try to deny it, waking up on Jan 1 of any year feels different. It brings a breeze of hope inside your heart, urging you to take this chance to change your life for the better.
Unlike other months of the year, January brings with it an urge to set new goals and plans, even when your situation is no different from yesterday. It is as if a notification pops up, enabling you to edit your avatar or attributes. When multitudes across the world get this at the same time, a collective sense of hope emerges that makes everyone feel capable of bringing a change to their lives.
I was especially attuned to the arrival of the new year this time as I ran out of pages in my journal at the start of December. Some unknown power within me protested against picking up my new journal before the next year. Thus, I was actively counting down the days until January 1, 2026, which felt like an eternity.
Coming home for the Christmas holidays, I was overjoyed to be back in my sanctuary: my room, my home and my family. My introverted soul recharged with just the right amount of solitude, company, conversations, and silence. I also took this opportunity to introspect and research on myself, as well as the career paths that best suit my needs, skills, and temperament. Although I wasn't able to choose one single path, I feel ready and informed enough to make a good decision when the time comes.
Hence, instead of making goals related to education, health, family or career, I chose to focus on changing my perception and attitude in a way that it will reflect on all the above spheres of life. To achieve anything in life, you need to find support and encouragement from within yourself.
Thus my message to you for this New Year is a compilation of a few quotes,
You are what you tell yourself. So talk to yourself like you would to someone you love, because the most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself.
Happy New Year to all my beloved readers. Cheers!
