Back in the Game
Hiii. It's Anagha. I've been away for a whole two months now, and I feel like a tortoise putting its head out after hiding in its shell :)
If I were to discuss the whole list of reasons that kept me away, it would be endless. But I must accept that a lot of them were fuelled by procrastination and laziness. What started as genuine reasons became excuses built around insecurities and hesitancies.
The long break had brought me back to the stage where I judged creations before they materialised -- a counter-productive urge to create perfection in one go or create nothing at all. It reminded me of a parable that goes along this way:
A teacher asked two groups of students to make pots in two different ways. Group A was instructed to create a single perfect pot in 30 days, while Group B was asked to make one pot a day in 30 days. The result of the competition revealed a profound truth about developing any art or skill.
One of the pots made by Group B turned out far superior in quality and craftsmanship to the single pot created by Group A. It shows the importance of continuous practice over endless planning or visualisation in learning a skill. The initial set of pots made by Group B naturally turned out badly. But the more pots they made, the better it got. Hence, the first step in learning any skill is to start small, accept initial setbacks as natural and keep at it. Once you trust the process, the improvements come on their own without you even realising it.
All said, preaching is easy. But this time, I'd like to give it a go. Along the way, I had forgotten the purpose of this blog. It was to carve a space where I could build myself. Give an outlet to my passions - be it philosophising on life, sharing little anecdotes and childhood memories, discussing new findings, or simply being myself. It was never about producing masterpieces or gaining a huge readership. The goal was simple: just write.
